Why we love it

A hoodie is a mood. A fleece jacket is a tool. Columbia’s Steens Mountain Full Zip 2.0 is the layer you put on when the morning is colder than the forecast and you still have to go outside.

We love the unfancy parts. Soft polyester fleece, a collar you can stand up, a zipper that closes the argument, and two zip pockets so the keys are not a juggling act at the trailhead. It is light enough to live in a daypack and warm enough that a shell has something to layer over. When we looked, the Black Medium listing was about $45. That is a real jacket, not a logo with sleeves.
