Why we love it

A toaster oven is where bread goes to get uneven. The Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro is the countertop that fired the single-purpose drawer. Toast, bagel, broil, bake, roast, warm, pizza, proof, air fry, reheat, cookies, slow cook, dehydrate. Thirteen buttons, one stainless box, and the full-size oven can stay off on a Tuesday.

We love the brushed stainless one because it looks like a small oven and behaves like one. Breville’s Element iQ uses five quartz elements and a fan with a regular speed and a super speed. The listing’s claim is that super convection can cut cook time by up to 30 percent. The interior is big enough for nine slices of bread, a 13-inch pizza, a 9-by-13 pan, a 12-cup muffin tray, or a 14-pound turkey. There is a light. There is an LCD that tells you when preheat is done and then counts down. In the box: a pizza pan, two racks, a broil rack with an enamel roasting pan, and a mesh basket for the air fry and the dehydrate.

When we looked, Amazon had the new brushed-stainless oven at $319.95, sold by Amazon.com. That is a real appliance, the kind that earns a permanent corner. The Instant Pot can keep the pressure. This one takes the toast, the sheet pan, and the fries.
