Why we love it
Some gifts need a speech. This one needs friends who will not text their mothers about the cards. One person reads a black card. Everyone else answers with a white card. The worst answer wins, which is the entire moral system.
We love it because the whole night fits in a box. No board. No tutorial longer than a drink order. The listing we mean is the main game, version 2.0, with 500 white cards and 100 black cards, ages 17 and up. When we looked, Amazon had it at $29, in stock, and it was Amazon’s Choice.
It will not make the group more polite. It will end the part of the evening where everyone is pretending to look at their phone. Bring it only if the room can take a joke.
The longer story
This is Cards Against Humanity, the main US game from Cards Against Humanity LLC, model MG-US. A party card game for adults: one player reads a black card, everyone else plays a white card, and the reader picks a winner. The box we mean is the main set, listed as version 2.0, with 500 white cards and 100 black cards, plus a rules booklet. Ages 17 and up. About 4 to 20 players.
Good for
- Adult game night with people who already like a mean joke
- A gift under $50 that does not require a size, a skin type, or a console
- Travel, if the group is the right group. The box is the whole product
Skip it if
- The table includes kids, a boss, or anyone who will not find a rude punchline funny. The publisher’s own age line is 17 and up
- You wanted an expansion, a family edition, or a themed deck. This link is the main game. Buy this first
- You wanted a cooperative game where nobody gets embarrassed. This one has a winner, and the winner picked the worst card
When we looked, the price was $29. It moves, and it stays in the under-$50 gift pile. The deal link is the Amazon page for that main set (/dp/B004S8F7QM) with our Amazon Associates tag threepaths-20. Confirm you are looking at the main game, not an expansion pack.
