The real product. The opinion is still ours.
Why we love it
A laptop drive is a closet with one door. The T7 Shield is the pocket you can throw. One terabyte, a rubber jacket, and speeds that make a photo dump feel like a magic trick instead of a coffee break.
We love the black 1TB because it looks like equipment and behaves like it. Samsung’s notes: USB 3.2 Gen 2, up to 1,050 MB/s read and 1,000 MB/s write, an IP65 rating for water and dust, and a drop test to about 9.8 feet. It is palm-sized. Hardware encryption is there if you want a password between the drive and a stranger. When we looked, Amazon.com had the black 1TB, model MU-PE1T0S/AM, at $277.91 against a $287.99 list, in stock.
That number is less cute than it was a couple of years ago. Memory got expensive. The drive did not get worse. It will not replace the laptop. It will hold the project, the photos, and the backup you keep meaning to make.
The longer story
This is the Samsung Portable SSD T7 Shield, 1TB, Black, model MU-PE1T0S/AM. Samsung’s notes: USB 3.2 Gen 2, sequential reads up to 1,050 MB/s and writes up to 1,000 MB/s, an IP65 water- and dust-resistant rating, and drop resistance up to 9.8 feet (3 meters). The enclosure is rubber. Samsung Magician handles health checks and updates. The listing’s special features include hardware encryption. It works with PCs, Macs, and the usual pile of phones, tablets, and consoles that speak USB.
Good for
- Photo and video dumps, a game library that outgrew the laptop, and a backup that leaves the house
- A bag that is not gentle. The rubber is the point
- The black 1TB, model MU-PE1T0S/AM, if that is the capacity and the color
Skip it if
- You wanted 2TB, 4TB, or the blue or beige one. Those are different listings. This page is black, 1TB
- You need a spinning hard drive the size of a novel, or an internal SSD. This is a pocket external
- The page is Renewed, or it is the plain T7 or the faster T9. This link is the T7 Shield
When we looked, Amazon.com had it in stock at $277.91 against a $287.99 list. The deal link is the Amazon page (/dp/B09VLK9W3S) with our Amazon Associates tag threepaths-20. Confirm the capacity says 1TB and the model says MU-PE1T0S/AM before you check out.
